Aave Deposits Cross $30B as AAVE Rally Gains Fundamental Support

Aave Deposits Cross $30B as AAVE Rally Gains Fundamental Support

AAVE's latest price advance is occurring alongside a measurable expansion in capital deployed through the protocol, giving traders a fundamental metric to assess against the sharp improvement in token momentum.

Summary:

  • Aave V3 deposits have crossed the $30 billion mark.
  • AAVE gained 12.73% in 24 hours while Bitcoin remained broadly flat.
  • Rising protocol deposits coincide with renewed demand for major DeFi tokens.
  • Technical momentum remains strong but increasingly stretched.

Aave’s V3 lending markets have surpassed $30 billion in deposits, according to the protocol, extending an upward trend that accelerated sharply in August. At the same time, AAVE climbed 12.73% over 24 hours to $140.33, substantially outperforming Bitcoin and putting the token within reach of the psychologically important $150 level.

$30 Billion Changes the Scale of Aave’s Lending Market

The deposit milestone matters because deposits represent capital actively supplied to Aave’s lending infrastructure rather than simply the market capitalization of its governance token.

Aave V3 deposits had spent much of June and July fluctuating around the $23 billion to $26 billion range, according to the chart published by Aave. The move above $30 billion therefore represents a meaningful acceleration from the relatively gradual growth recorded earlier in the summer.

That capital provides the liquidity borrowers use across Aave’s markets. Deeper deposits can improve the protocol’s capacity to accommodate larger borrowing demand while reducing the likelihood that individual transactions materially affect available liquidity.

The distinction between deposits and token price is important. Higher deposits do not mechanically increase AAVE’s price. They instead indicate greater use of the underlying lending infrastructure, providing a fundamental reference point when evaluating whether token appreciation is occurring alongside expanding protocol activity.

Why AAVE Is Outperforming Bitcoin

The timing of the rally suggests AAVE is benefiting from two overlapping forces.

Protocol fundamentals have strengthened while traders have also rotated capital toward established DeFi assets. AAVE’s 12.73% daily advance occurred while Bitcoin was comparatively flat, indicating that the move cannot be explained simply by broad crypto market beta.

Renewed demand for other DeFi tokens, including Convex Finance’s CVX, provides additional evidence of sector-level rotation. In that environment, Aave has an advantage over more speculative DeFi assets because investors can compare its token performance against observable lending activity and deposits.

There is still a limit to that relationship. Deposits can rise because of changes in asset prices as well as fresh capital entering the protocol, so the dollar value alone should not be treated as a direct measure of net inflows.

AAVE Approaches $145 as Momentum Accelerates

The technical picture has strengthened further alongside Aave’s deposit growth. On the four-hour Coinbase chart from TradingView, AAVE was trading at $139.33 on August 23, after the latest candle reached an intraday high of $142.48. The move extends a steep advance from below $90 earlier in the month and leaves the token approaching the $145 to $150 resistance area.

Momentum remains firmly positive, although the rally is increasingly stretched. The 14-period RSI stands at 80.60, keeping AAVE well inside overbought territory. An elevated RSI does not by itself signal that the rally has ended, but after such a rapid advance it increases the risk of short-term profit-taking or sideways consolidation.

The MACD remains bullish, providing a different signal from the RSI. The MACD line is at 9.48, above the 8.38 signal line, while the histogram remains positive at 1.10. Buyers therefore still control momentum despite the increasingly extended price structure.

The latest breakout also changes the relevant levels traders are watching. A sustained move above $142.50 to $145 would leave $150 as the next major psychological resistance. On the downside, the recent consolidation around $120 to $128 now provides the first substantial support zone. A break back below that range would weaken the current breakout structure and bring the previously identified $112 to $119 area back into focus.

The combination of rising deposits and strong price momentum gives the rally a fundamental component, but the next test is whether AAVE can maintain its breakout once the current overbought conditions begin to normalize.
