Big UK Bank Warns About Refusing Cash Withdrawals at Will

A bank based in the UK, managing $28 billion in assets, has implemented a policy where customers must explain their cash withdrawals.

NatWest Bank insists that customers must furnish satisfactory justifications and supporting documentation to ensure the legitimacy of their withdrawal requests. The bank claims that these measures have been instituted to protect customers from fraudulent activities.

According to NatWest, cash withdrawals are considered the least secure payment method due to the availability of alternative options such as their Online Banking and Mobile App services. Their primary objective is to prioritize the safety and security of their customers.

Consequently, their branch locations diligently adhere to these processes, which involve inquiring about the purpose behind cash withdrawals and occasionally requesting supporting documents such as invoices.

These measures are intended to verify the authenticity of the withdrawal and safeguard customers against fraudulent schemes.

In instances where NatWest suspects any issues related to the transaction, they reserve the right to deny cash withdrawals based on the information provided. This action is solely undertaken to ensure the protection of their customers.

NatWest has taken steps to communicate these procedures to its customers through its official website and physical branches. Additionally, they require customers who intend to withdraw amounts exceeding £20,000 to notify the bank in advance with a three-day notice.

For withdrawals ranging from £5,000 to £19,999, the bank advises customers to provide a 24-hour notice as a precautionary measure.
