Binance Rewards Whistleblowers $100K for Exposing Insider Trading Scheme
Binance has recently rewarded four whistleblowers a total of $100,000 for their role in exposing insider trading activities within the company.
The cryptocurrency exchange revealed on March 25 that the reward was granted following an internal investigation into allegations of front-running trades, where an employee used non-public information for personal financial gain.
The whistleblowers, who reported the issue through Binance’s official reporting platform, received an equal share of the reward. Binance emphasized that rewards are only given to those who use its designated channel for whistleblowing, despite some public reports on social media.
The investigation uncovered that the accused employee had previously worked in a business development role at BNB Chain before moving to the Binance Wallet team.

Using inside knowledge about an upcoming Token Generation Event (TGE), the employee bought a substantial amount of tokens before the public announcement, later selling them for significant profits. This was a clear violation of Binance’s insider trading rules.
Although the specific tokens involved were not disclosed, the exchange swiftly suspended the employee and is cooperating with relevant authorities for possible legal consequences. Binance reiterated its commitment to upholding transparency and fairness in its operations, emphasizing that any misconduct would not be tolerated. This incident highlights the ongoing concerns about insider trading in the crypto industry, particularly with the rise in popularity of meme coins.
