Bitcoin Holds $77,000 as ETF Inflows Reach $1.92B in Five Days

Bitcoin trades at $77,240.39 at the end of the August 17-21 period, extending its seven-day gain to 22.76% as U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs absorbed approximately $1.92 billion in net capital.
Summary:
- Bitcoin ended the week at $77,240 after gaining 22.76% over seven days.
- BTC ETFs recorded $1.92 billion in net inflows across five positive sessions.
- Ethereum climbed 29.59% as its ETFs attracted $692.6 million.
- XRP outperformed the major assets while ETF demand accelerated into Friday.
The rally was broader than Bitcoin alone: Ethereum reached $2,432.25, XRP advanced to $1.51, Solana traded at $93.80 and Hyperliquid’s HYPE reached $78.15. ETF data show institutional demand strengthening alongside those gains, although the distribution of capital remained heavily concentrated in Bitcoin and Ethereum rather than spreading evenly across the expanding range of crypto funds.
Bitcoin ETF Demand Accelerated as BTC Held Above $77,000
Bitcoin finished the period with a market capitalization of roughly $1.54 trillion, according to the supplied market snapshot. The cryptocurrency gained 0.41% over 24 hours and 22.76% over seven days, putting its price at $77,240.39.
That advance coincided with five consecutive sessions of positive U.S. spot Bitcoin ETF flows.
Data from FarSide investors, funds attracted $297.5 million on August 17 and another $189.3 million on August 18. Demand accelerated considerably in the second half of the week, with net inflows reaching $517.2 million on Wednesday and a weekly high of $606.3 million on Thursday.
Friday added another $307.5 million.
The five sessions generated approximately $1.92 billion in combined net inflows.
The sequence is more informative than a single large weekly number. Around $1.43 billion entered Bitcoin ETFs between Wednesday and Friday, meaning demand strengthened after Bitcoin’s rally was already underway rather than disappearing as prices moved higher.
BlackRock’s IBIT dominated the activity. The fund attracted $160.2 million on Monday, $143.6 million on Tuesday, $284.7 million on Wednesday, $503 million on Thursday and $239.3 million on Friday.
That gives IBIT approximately $1.33 billion in weekly inflows, close to 69% of the category’s five-day total.
Fidelity’s FBTC was the next significant contributor with approximately $293.1 million for the week. Other funds participated, but at a much smaller scale.
ETF flows cannot account for Bitcoin’s entire 22.76% weekly appreciation because the cryptocurrency trades across a much larger global spot and derivatives market. What they establish is that the rally occurred while regulated U.S. products consistently absorbed new capital, with no aggregate net outflow session during the five-day period.
Ethereum Reached $2,432 as ETF Buying Built Through the Week
Ethereum recorded an even stronger percentage gain.
ETH traded at $2,432.25, up 2.26% over 24 hours and 29.59% over seven days, while its market capitalization reached approximately $293 billion.
U.S. Ethereum ETFs attracted $692.6 million between August 17 and August 21.
Monday opened with $30.9 million in net inflows, followed by $71.4 million on Tuesday. The pace then increased to $186.8 million on Wednesday and peaked at $219.5 million on Thursday before another $184 million arrived on Friday.
That produced five consecutive positive sessions.
BlackRock’s ETHA accounted for most of the demand, collecting approximately $536.8 million during the week. The fund alone represented roughly 78% of aggregate Ethereum ETF inflows.
The concentration is even greater than in Bitcoin.
Rather than indicating that capital was moving evenly across competing Ethereum products, the figures suggest investors continued to favor the largest institutional distribution channel. Fidelity’s FETH and BlackRock’s ETHB attracted additional capital, while several smaller products recorded little or no activity on individual days.
Ethereum nevertheless attracted substantial capital relative to the size of its underlying market. Bitcoin ETF inflows were about 2.8 times larger in absolute terms, but Bitcoin’s market capitalization was more than five times Ethereum’s in the supplied snapshot.
That distinction helps explain why the $692.6 million Ethereum figure deserves attention even though it remains far below Bitcoin’s $1.92 billion total.
Crypto Prices and ETF Flows for August 17-21
The week’s market performance also shows that the strongest price gains did not necessarily occur in the assets attracting the most ETF capital.
ETF flows cover August 17-21. Prices and seven-day performance reflect the supplied market snapshot.
The contrast is clearest in XRP and HYPE. Both substantially outperformed Bitcoin over seven days despite attracting only a fraction of Bitcoin’s regulated fund flows.
That makes it difficult to use ETF demand as a universal explanation for the week’s crypto rally. For Bitcoin and Ethereum, the products represented a substantial source of incremental demand. In smaller ETF categories, price discovery remained much more dependent on activity outside the funds.
XRP Jumped 51% While ETF Inflows Accelerated Late in the Week
XRP delivered the strongest seven-day return among the five assets covered here.
The token traded at $1.51, gaining 11.58% in 24 hours and 51.12% over seven days. Its market capitalization stood at roughly $94 billion.
ETF demand was positive but considerably smaller than the price performance might imply.
According to Coinglass, XRP products recorded no net inflow on August 17 before taking in $5.81 million on Tuesday and $2.35 million on Wednesday.
Thursday brought a larger $13.24 million, followed by a weekly high of $18.38 million on Friday.
Total net inflows reached $39.78 million.
More than 79% of that capital arrived during the final two trading sessions, giving XRP a distinctly back-loaded flow profile.
Bitwise’s XRP ETF was responsible for most of Friday’s activity with $16.89 million, while Franklin’s XRPZ attracted $1.49 million.
Canary’s XRPC and Grayscale’s GXRP recorded no net flow that day.
The timing is relevant because XRP’s strongest ETF demand appeared after substantial price appreciation had already occurred.
Rather than showing ETF flows leading the entire move, the figures point to regulated investment demand becoming more active as momentum strengthened.
Solana Climbed to $93.80, but ETF Demand Remained Small
Solana traded at $93.80 after advancing 3.90% over 24 hours and 24.81% over seven days. Its market capitalization reached roughly $54 billion.
Its ETF market remained far smaller than Bitcoin’s or Ethereum’s.
Solana funds recorded no aggregate flow on Monday, followed by $1.6 million on Tuesday and $2.5 million on Wednesday. Activity accelerated later in the week with $14.6 million on Thursday and another $10 million on Friday.
That produced approximately $28.7 million in weekly net inflows.
Bitwise’s BSOL was responsible for most of the positive activity. The fund attracted $1.6 million on Tuesday, $5.6 million on Wednesday, $6.6 million on Thursday and $8.7 million on Friday.

Grayscale’s GSOL provided a useful example of the more uneven demand within smaller ETF categories. It lost $3.1 million on Wednesday before attracting $7.1 million the following session.
Solana’s entire weekly ETF intake was smaller than the amount Bitcoin products routinely attracted within a few hours during their strongest sessions. The difference illustrates the large gap that remains between access to a regulated investment product and meaningful institutional scale.
HYPE Gained Nearly 40% With Only $3.8 Million in ETF Inflows
Hyperliquid produced perhaps the clearest separation between ETF activity and market performance.
HYPE traded at $78.15, gaining 5.52% over 24 hours and 39.67% across seven days. Its market capitalization stood near $19 billion.
Yet Hyperliquid ETF flows were minimal.
The funds registered no net movement on Monday or Tuesday, followed by a $2 million net outflow on Wednesday. Thursday brought $5.8 million in inflows, while Friday returned to zero.
The weekly balance was therefore only $3.8 million.
HYPE appreciated almost 40% during a period in which regulated products attracted less than $4 million on a net basis. That makes the ETF channel too small to provide a convincing explanation for the token’s broader market move.
It also provides a useful counterpoint to Bitcoin. ETF flows have become large enough to represent a meaningful part of Bitcoin’s daily capital structure, whereas newer products tied to smaller assets can still operate at volumes that are negligible relative to their underlying markets.
The $2.68 Billion Headline Conceals a Highly Concentrated Market
Across Bitcoin, Ethereum, XRP, Solana and Hyperliquid, the supplied data produce approximately $2.68 billion in combined weekly ETF inflows.
Almost all of it went into two assets.
Bitcoin and Ethereum together attracted roughly $2.61 billion, accounting for about 97% of the five categories’ combined net flows.
XRP, Solana and Hyperliquid shared the remaining fraction despite all three recording substantial weekly price gains.
Issuer concentration was almost as pronounced.
BlackRock’s IBIT attracted approximately $1.33 billion, while ETHA added another $536.8 million. Together, the two BlackRock products absorbed about $1.87 billion during the week.
That is roughly 70% of the combined net flows across all five asset categories examined here.
The figures therefore describe two different stages of institutional crypto adoption at once. Bitcoin and Ethereum already have ETF markets capable of moving hundreds of millions of dollars in a session. XRP and Solana have established regulated channels but remain much smaller in flow terms, while Hyperliquid’s fund market is smaller again.
ETF Buying and Crypto Prices Did Not Move in Lockstep
Comparing weekly returns with fund flows provides a useful check on what the ETF numbers actually tell investors.
Bitcoin attracted by far the most capital but gained 22.76%. Ethereum received less than half as much ETF money and rose 29.59%.
XRP’s $39.78 million of inflows accompanied a 51.12% gain, while HYPE climbed 39.67% despite just $3.8 million in net ETF demand.
There is no contradiction in those figures.
ETF flows represent one route through which capital reaches an asset. The importance of that route differs sharply depending on the size and maturity of the fund market, while crypto prices are simultaneously determined across global spot venues, perpetual futures, options and other trading channels.
For Bitcoin, the persistence of the flows may therefore be more informative than comparing $1.92 billion directly with a 22.76% price gain. Every session from August 17 through August 21 finished positive for the ETFs, and the largest inflows came during the latter half of the week.
Ethereum displayed a similar pattern, finishing all five sessions in positive territory and recording its three largest daily inflows from Wednesday through Friday.
XRP presents a different setup heading into the next reporting period. Its two strongest ETF sessions arrived on Thursday and Friday after flows had been modest earlier in the week. Whether that late acceleration continues after a 51.12% seven-day price increase will provide the next useful indication of how much regulated demand is developing beyond Bitcoin and Ethereum.
