Bitcoin Trades Above $66,000 as Institutional Demand Grows

Corporate demand for Bitcoin continued to strengthen this week as Strategy and Strive expanded their cryptocurrency holdings, reinforcing a trend that has become one of the market's most important sources of institutional demand.
Summary:
- Strategy and Strive added more Bitcoin to their corporate reserves.
- BlackRock is preparing to launch a Bitcoin income-generating ETF.
- Bitcoin remains above key technical support despite recent consolidation.
The purchases come as BlackRock prepares to launch a new income-focused Bitcoin ETF, potentially opening the asset class to a broader group of traditional investors.
Strategy and Strive Expand Bitcoin Holdings
Strategy, the largest corporate holder of Bitcoin, disclosed the acquisition of an additional 1,587 BTC for approximately $100 million, increasing its total holdings to 846,842 BTC.

At current market prices, the company’s Bitcoin reserve is valued at roughly $56.3 billion, representing approximately 4.03% of Bitcoin’s total supply. Strategy also increased its U.S. dollar reserve by $100 million, bringing total cash reserves to $1.1 billion.
The purchase further strengthens Strategy’s position as the dominant corporate Bitcoin accumulator and highlights continued confidence in the asset despite ongoing macroeconomic uncertainty.
Meanwhile, asset manager Strive announced the purchase of an additional 73 BTC for approximately $4.7 million, bringing total holdings to 19,105 BTC. The company’s Bitcoin treasury is now worth more than $1.2 billion, reflecting the growing popularity of Bitcoin treasury strategies among publicly traded firms and investment managers.

The latest acquisitions underscore a broader institutional trend in which companies increasingly view Bitcoin as a strategic reserve asset rather than a speculative investment.
BlackRock Targets Bitcoin Income Investors
While corporations continue accumulating Bitcoin directly, BlackRock is preparing to expand investor access through a different approach.
The asset management giant is expected to launch the iShares Bitcoin Premium Income ETF (BITA), a product designed to generate monthly income from Bitcoin exposure through a covered-call strategy.
The ETF will hold shares of BlackRock’s spot Bitcoin ETF, IBIT, while selling call options against part of its portfolio. Premiums generated from those options are expected to be distributed to shareholders as income.

BlackRock has set a management fee of 0.65%, below many competing Bitcoin income products, signaling an aggressive effort to capture market share. Analysts expect the fund could begin trading shortly after the upcoming Federal Reserve meeting.
The product is designed for investors seeking exposure to Bitcoin without relying exclusively on price appreciation. However, the strategy comes with a trade-off. Covered-call funds generate income but typically limit upside participation during strong bull markets.
The launch also intensifies competition with Goldman Sachs, which is reportedly preparing a similar Bitcoin income-focused ETF.
Bitcoin Holds Key Technical Levels
Bitcoin traded near $66,400 during Monday’s session after briefly approaching the $66,900-$67,000 area earlier in the day.
Despite the pullback, the cryptocurrency continues to trade above all major moving averages. The 20-period moving average remains near $66,517, while the 50-period average sits around $66,161. Longer-term support levels remain intact at approximately $65,940 and $65,734.

The technical structure suggests the broader uptrend remains in place, although momentum has cooled following the recent advance. Bitcoin’s Relative Strength Index (RSI) declined to approximately 48, retreating from overbought conditions and indicating a more balanced market environment.
For bulls, maintaining support above the $66,000 level remains critical. A successful defense of that area could allow Bitcoin to retest recent highs near $67,000. Conversely, a break below short-term moving averages could trigger a deeper consolidation toward the mid-$65,000 range.
With institutional accumulation continuing, a major ETF launch approaching and Bitcoin holding above key technical levels, investors remain focused on whether the asset can sustain momentum and challenge new cycle highs in the weeks ahead.
