BlackRock’s BUIDL Surpasses $900M on Avalanche Network

BlackRock’s BUIDL Surpasses $900M on Avalanche Network

BlackRock's tokenized Treasury fund has rapidly expanded on Avalanche, underscoring growing institutional demand for blockchain-based money market products.

Summary

  • BlackRock’s BUIDL fund surpassed $900 million on Avalanche after adding roughly $436 million in one week.
  • Total assets across all supported blockchains have reached approximately $2.87 billion.
  • Avalanche has become BUIDL’s second-largest network behind Ethereum.
  • The growth reflects accelerating institutional adoption of tokenized U.S. Treasuries as on-chain financial infrastructure matures.

BUIDL Doubles on Avalanche in a Week

According to rwa.xyz, BlackRock’s USD Institutional Digital Liquidity Fund (BUIDL) has surpassed $902 million in assets on the Avalanche blockchain after nearly doubling in size over the past week.

The fund added approximately $436 million, making Avalanche the second-largest blockchain supporting BUIDL behind Ethereum.

Across all supported networks, BUIDL’s total assets under management have climbed to around $2.87 billion, reinforcing its position as one of the world’s largest tokenized U.S. Treasury funds, according to RWA.xyz.

The expansion also strengthens Avalanche’s role as a destination for institutional tokenized assets, as asset managers increasingly deploy regulated financial products across multiple blockchain networks instead of relying on a single ecosystem.

Why Avalanche Is Attracting Institutional Capital

Avalanche’s recent growth reflects more than lower transaction fees.

The network offers faster settlement and a scalable infrastructure that appeals to institutions moving traditional financial products on-chain. For tokenized money market funds such as BUIDL, operational efficiency becomes increasingly important as transaction volumes and asset sizes grow.

Rather than concentrating the fund on ETH alone, BlackRock has adopted a multi-chain strategy, making BUIDL available across eight blockchain networks, including Ethereum, Avalanche, Solana, Polygon and others.

That approach allows institutions to access the fund through the blockchain infrastructure already integrated into their custody, trading and settlement operations while reducing dependence on a single network.

Tokenized Treasuries Continue to Lead the RWA Market

BUIDL’s expansion comes as tokenized real-world assets continue to gain momentum across financial markets.

According to industry data from KuCoin, the value of on-chain real-world assets has grown to approximately $33.5 billion, with tokenized U.S. Treasuries accounting for roughly $15-$16 billion of that total. The sector has become the largest category within tokenized finance as institutions increasingly seek yield-bearing assets backed by short-term government securities.

Other segments, including private credit, now represent roughly $6.2 billion, while tokenized equities and other regulated financial products continue to expand as asset managers explore blockchain-based settlement.

From Pilot Programs to Financial Infrastructure

BUIDL’s growth suggests tokenized Treasury funds are moving beyond early-stage experimentation.

Unlike traditional money market funds, tokenized Treasury products can distribute yield directly on-chain while remaining compatible with digital asset infrastructure. Earlier this year, BUIDL also became available through UniswapX via Securitize, demonstrating how regulated financial products can interact with decentralized finance while remaining within established compliance frameworks.

For institutions, the appeal extends beyond faster settlement. Tokenized funds provide continuous availability, programmable ownership and easier integration with digital collateral, treasury management and on-chain settlement systems.

What Institutional Investors Are Watching

The latest growth in BUIDL highlights several trends shaping the tokenized asset market:

  • Multi-chain expansion: Asset managers are deploying products across multiple blockchains rather than concentrating liquidity on one network.
  • Institutional adoption: Capital continues flowing into regulated tokenized Treasury products instead of speculative digital assets.
  • Infrastructure maturity: Tokenized funds are increasingly being integrated into custody, settlement and liquidity management workflows.
  • RWA market growth: With the broader tokenized asset market approaching $33.5 billion, institutions continue viewing government-backed securities as the primary entry point into on-chain finance.

The rapid expansion of BUIDL on Avalanche illustrates how tokenization is increasingly becoming part of mainstream financial infrastructure. Rather than replacing traditional markets, products such as BUIDL are extending them onto blockchain networks, where institutions can access regulated assets with faster settlement, greater interoperability and continuous market availability.
