Cardano: Mithril Protocol Mainnet Launch Approaching
According to recent information shared by Richard McCracken, a well-known figure in the Cardano community, the highly anticipated Mithril protocol by Cardano is nearing its Mainnet launch.
The final testing stages are underway, demonstrating Cardano‘s dedication to enhancing scalability and performance. McCracken advises Stake Pool Operators (SPOs) to upgrade to node version 8.0.0 on the mainnet, with one relay in P2P and another in manual or topology updater mode.
However, he suggests using version 8.1.1 exclusively on the preview testnet for now, indicating a cautious approach to the mainnet transition. These updates emphasize Cardano’s commitment to ensuring the smooth operation of its network during crucial upgrades.
The launch of the Mithril protocol on the mainnet appears to be imminent, and the Cardano community has invited stakeholders and members to join the Discord channel to contribute to the launch coordination, testing, and feedback collection for Mithril. This collaborative approach reflects Cardano’s community-oriented ethos.

The primary objective of the Mithril protocol is to establish a more robust and lightweight blockchain by implementing a stake-based threshold signature scheme. This scheme aims to enhance chain synchronization, state bootstrapping, and trust issues in blockchain applications.
Additionally, McCracken provided updates on governance, revealing that Delegated Representatives (DREPs) would be able to remain anonymous, and there would be no saturation cap on the amount of delegation a DRep can receive.
