Charles Hoskinson Criticizes Internet Computer Upgrade

In a recent online exchange, Charles Hoskinson, the visionary behind Cardano, responded playfully to a post from Dfinity.

Dfinity had spotlighted a significant upgrade in their Internet Computer (ICP) protocol, proudly claiming that their canister smart contracts could now boast an impressive 400GiB in stable memory.

According to them, this upgrade could store approximately 17.4 million Ethereum smart contracts or the entire Cardano blockchain—twice over. Hoskinson humorously remarked:

Delving into the technical nuances of Internet Computer, Dfinity’s ambitious blockchain project, the spotlight is on “canisters”—smart contracts with elevated capacity. Distinct from conventional software containers, these canisters not only execute code but also retain the application’s state, markedly amplifying the efficiency and scalability of the blockchain applications they accommodate.

A noteworthy move unfolded in April 2022 when Dfinity welcomed Eva Oberholzer, a recognizable figure from the Cardano circle, as their new chief growth officer.

This strategic maneuver aimed to propel Internet Computer into the mainstream. Hoskinson’s congratulatory message at the time hinted at the mutual respect shared between these two blockchain projects. In 2021, he had acknowledged Dfinity’s ascension into the “major leagues” through a social media post.

Fast forward to early 2024, and the Internet Computer project is gaining traction, with the ICP token now outpacing Shiba Inu in market performance.
