Coinbase, Google Cloud Join EigenLayer as Node Operators
Cloud divisions at various firms, including Coinbase and Google, have recently become operators for EigenLayer following the mainnet launch.
Coinbase Cloud expressed pride in being among the protocol’s initial ONoperators, poised to support restaked ETH or LSTs.
Google Cloud’s product manager, Sam Padilla, highlighted their team’s involvement in Eigen’s testnet since November, now implementing an operator node on the mainnet.
This isn’t Google Cloud’s first foray into blockchain projects; it already offers web3 infrastructure services for Ethereum, Solana, and Aptos.
Other firms, such as Deutsche Telekom MMS, HashKey Cloud, and P2P, have also joined EigenLayer as operators.

EigenLayer’s mainnet launch includes its data availability layer EigenDA, facilitating restakers’ delegation to preferred operators and allowing operators to offer validated services.
Operators provide services to applications and process transactions in exchange for rewards, leveraging the security layer from staked ETH on Ethereum. However, they are not currently validating services, with in-protocol payments and slashing set to be introduced later this year.
