Crypto ETF Inflows Hit $2.07B as Ethereum Sets 2026 Record

U.S. crypto ETFs attracted approximately $2.07 billion in net capital from August 24 through August 28, closing the final full trading week of the month with strong demand across several digital assets.
Summary:
- Crypto ETF demand broadened materially beyond Bitcoin during the August 24-28 trading week.
- BlackRock’s IBIT and ETHA were the dominant individual funds in the two largest ETF categories.
- August 27 produced unusually broad buying across BTC, ETH, SOL, XRP and HYPE products.
- Friday’s Bitcoin redemptions contrasted with continued subscriptions elsewhere as crypto prices weakened.
Bitcoin remained the largest destination, but Ethereum nearly matched its weekly intake, while Solana and XRP reached their strongest weekly inflows of 2026.
BlackRock drove the Bitcoin side of the week
The headline Bitcoin result conceals a sharp divide between issuers.
According to SoSoValue data, BlackRock’s IBIT attracted $938.32 million, more than the entire category’s net weekly gain. Grayscale’s BTC added $81.83 million, Fidelity’s FBTC $61.98 million and Morgan Stanley’s MSBT $25.25 million.
Those additions were partly offset by withdrawals elsewhere. ARK Invest and 21Shares’ ARKB lost $85.14 million, while $77.6 million exited Grayscale’s GBTC.
The concentration in IBIT is important because the week’s positive result did not require uniform buying across every Bitcoin product. Instead, capital continued migrating between issuers while the category as a whole attracted new money.
That pattern was already visible earlier in August. Bitcoin ETFs recorded their largest daily inflow of the month on August 20, when $606.3 million entered the products, including $503 million for IBIT.
Ethereum closed the gap without a negative session
Ethereum’s weekly pattern was different. ETH ETFs remained positive on all five trading days, allowing the category to post its strongest weekly result since October 2025 and a new high for 2026.
BlackRock again dominated allocations. ETHA absorbed $567.03 million, meaning roughly 69% of the week’s net ETH demand went into a single product. Fidelity’s FETH added $96.5 million and BlackRock’s ETHB brought in another $77.29 million.
The significance is not simply that Ethereum received substantial capital. Its funds continued attracting money even as ETH ended the week near $2,434 in the supplied August 29 market data, down 2.56% over 24 hours.
ETF subscriptions and spot momentum were therefore moving in opposite directions by the weekend.
Thursday showed how far ETF demand had broadened
August 27 was the clearest example of the expansion beyond BTC and ETH.
All five categories covered here finished the session with positive flows. Bitcoin added about $242 million, while Ethereum attracted more than $225 million. Solana recorded $56.1 million, its strongest session of the week, and Hyperliquid reached $24.4 million.
For Solana, the acceleration was particularly abrupt. Its ETF inflow had been only $3.6 million one day earlier.
Bitwise’s BSOL accounted for $40.2 million of Thursday’s SOL total, while Fidelity’s FSOL and Grayscale’s GSOL also received fresh capital.
The broader weekly result left SOL funds with their best inflow performance since the record period immediately following their October 2025 launch. XRP simultaneously established its own 2026 weekly high.
XRP reached that mark through a steadier pattern. Its products remained positive throughout the five sessions rather than relying on one outsized day, with the strongest daily intake arriving on August 26.
That difference is useful when assessing demand. Solana experienced a pronounced late-week acceleration, while XRP showed more consistent allocations across the period.
Bitcoin’s Friday outflow broke a nine-session streak
The tone changed during the final trading session.
Bitcoin ETFs recorded $201.81 million in net redemptions on August 28, their first negative session after nine consecutive days of inflows.
The reversal was concentrated in several products. ARKB lost $114.9 million, BITB shed $49.7 million and IBIT recorded $33.4 million in withdrawals. MSBT was a notable exception with $9.3 million of inflows.
The streak that ended Friday had been substantial. From August 17 through August 27, Bitcoin ETFs had accumulated roughly $3.04 billion, based on the daily flow series. The run included $517.2 million on August 19 and the month’s $606.3 million peak the following day.
Friday therefore represented a break in momentum rather than an unwind of the preceding accumulation.
More importantly, the reversal was largely confined to Bitcoin. Ethereum still received fresh capital on August 28, alongside positive flows for XRP, Solana and Hyperliquid.
That distinction makes it difficult to characterize Friday simply as investors abandoning crypto exposure.
ETF buying did not prevent a leveraged market reset
The divergence becomes clearer when the ETF figures are compared with the August 29 market snapshot.
Bitcoin was trading around $77,574, down 2.30% over 24 hours, while Ethereum fell 2.56% to approximately $2,434. XRP traded at $1.38 after a 2.57% decline, and Hyperliquid slipped 1.82% to $81.37.
Solana held up somewhat better, losing 1.18% over 24 hours while remaining 10.14% higher over seven days.
Total crypto market capitalization had declined 2.11% to approximately $2.62 trillion.
The derivatives market shows why spot weakness and ETF accumulation can coexist.
Data from Coinglass, points $381.08 million in crypto liquidations, with long positions responsible for $309.39 million. Shorts accounted for just $71.74 million.
That means roughly 81% of the liquidated positions were longs.
ETF investors and leveraged derivatives traders operate through different channels. The week’s fund data points to sustained demand for regulated spot exposure, while the liquidation imbalance shows that traders using leverage were positioned too aggressively for continued price gains.
The two signals are therefore not contradictory. Capital can enter ETFs over several sessions while a short-term decline simultaneously forces leveraged positions out of the market.
August ends with ETF demand spread across more assets
The final week also adds context to a larger change in the U.S. crypto investment market.
Bitcoin ETFs remain dominant in scale, but investors now have regulated products covering a growing number of crypto assets.
During the same week that Ethereum reached its 2026 high, Solana and XRP set annual records of their own, while HYPE ETFs collected another $56.86 million. Smaller LINK, HBAR and DOGE products also finished positive, whereas Litecoin recorded a minor outflow.
That breadth will make September’s flows more informative than Bitcoin numbers alone. The next question is no longer simply whether money returns to BTC ETFs after Friday’s interruption. It is whether Ethereum and the newer ETF categories can continue attracting capital independently when the broader crypto market is no longer rising with them.
