Do Kwon’s Legal Battle Intensifies as New Evidence Delays Hearing

Do Kwon's legal saga continues to intensify as new developments emerge.
The US federal court hearing, initially scheduled for March 6, has been postponed after prosecutors revealed an overwhelming volume of new evidence—amounting to four terabytes of data. This significant discovery has added complexity to the case against the Terraform Labs co-founder.
Previously, prosecutors had already handed over 600 gigabytes of evidence, including information from Kwon’s phones, emails, and other accounts. However, the massive new data load has forced the court to delay the hearing until April 10, allowing both the prosecution and defense more time to examine the materials. The judge’s decision reflects the importance of these new findings and their potential impact on the case.

Despite this delay, the trial date remains set for January 2026. Both legal teams must submit pretrial motions by July 1, with replies due by August 11. The new evidence will likely shape the arguments in the upcoming trial.
Kwon’s ongoing legal battle began after the collapse of Terraform Labs in May 2022, when its algorithmic stablecoin, TerraClassicUSD (USTC), caused $60 billion in market losses. His subsequent arrest in Montenegro in March 2023, following his evasion of authorities, added another chapter to the saga. After serving time in Montenegro, Kwon was extradited to the US in late 2024.
As the case evolves, the growing volume of evidence raises questions about Kwon’s defense. The April hearing will be crucial in determining the next steps in this ongoing legal fight.
