Former President Donald Trump recently used Bitcoin to settle a bar tab in New York.

Assisted by his staff, Trump completed the transaction using a QR code to transfer BTC.

The unusual payment method was met with applause from those present. Trump has shown increasing interest in cryptocurrencies as part of his current presidential campaign.

At this year’s Bitcoin conference in Nashville, he expressed his ambition to position the U.S. as the “crypto capital of the world.” His engagement with digital markets includes various NFT collections, such as one featuring his mugshot.

Additionally, in July, Trump’s campaign raised nearly $3 million from crypto-connected donors, following his milestone of becoming the first presidential candidate to accept cryptocurrency contributions.
