Elon Musk’s X Faces Brazil Ban – Serious Fines for Those Who Try to Outwit the Law
Elon Musk’s social media platform, X, is facing a suspension in Brazil after the country’s Supreme Court, led by Minister Alexandre de Moraes, issued a ruling against the company.
The court halted the platform’s operations due to its failure to appoint a legal representative within a 24-hour deadline. This decision has intensified the ongoing tension between Musk and Brazilian authorities.
Justice Moraes has also warned Brazilian users who bypass the ban using VPNs that they could face daily fines of up to $9,000. Additionally, the court has instructed Brazil’s telecom agency to block access to X and directed tech giants like Apple and Google to remove the app from their stores.
Moraes accused X of creating a “lawless environment” and claimed that the platform had been used to spread hate speech and misinformation.

Despite these accusations, Musk has criticized the court’s actions, labeling them politically motivated and a threat to free speech. He has vowed to fight back, arguing that the court’s demands are unlawful and that X will not comply with secretive or biased rulings.
Musk has also expressed concerns over the safety of the platform’s legal representatives, leading to the closure of X’s Brazil office. The company plans to make all legal demands from the court public in an effort to maintain transparency.
