Historic Church Launches Crypto Fundraiser to Buy Building
Fort Collins' Old Stone Church, the city's oldest place of worship, is venturing into cryptocurrency with a new fundraising initiative.
Led by Pastor Blake Bush, the church aims to become the first tokenized church in the U.S., setting a fundraising target of $2.5 million.
This effort isn’t about spiritual salvation but rather raising funds to purchase the historic 19th-century chapel, which has long served as a community spiritual center.
Pastor Bush became interested in cryptocurrency in 2022 after learning about XRP, and he was soon inspired to tokenize the Old Stone Church. He felt a divine prompt to “tokenize the building.”

Tyler Vinson, founder of REtokens, is collaborating on this project. Although REtokens faced criticism for a previous high-cost stock offering, Vinson is optimistic about this venture. In May 2024, RETokens and Swiss blockchain firm Polymesh announced a plan to tokenize $30 million in real estate, including the Old Stone Church.
The initial phase of this project is aimed at accredited investors, with a minimum investment of $50,000 to raise the $2.5 million needed to acquire the 11,457-square-foot building. The church’s current owner, Warren Yoder, bought the property for $2.2 million in 2022 and is one of Pastor Bush’s parishioners.
Tokens will eventually be available to non-accredited investors from the church’s congregation at $500 each, with a minimum investment of $1,500. These tokens are expected to trade continuously or until a majority decision is made to sell.
Local figures, including Severance, Colorado’s mayor, are already involved in overseeing the project.
