Jack Dorsey Donates $21 Million to OpenSats for Bitcoin Development
Jack Dorsey, Twitter's co-founder, recently donated $21 million to OpenSats, showcasing his strong belief in Bitcoin's future as the internet's native currency.
The donation, part of Dorsey’s #startsmall initiative, will support various operational and development efforts within OpenSats.
This financial support aims to foster initiatives vital to the Bitcoin ecosystem and broader technology freedom movement. Notably, The Nostr, a platform integrating Bitcoin payments for software developers, has seen significant growth, reaching 16 million users with 500,000 daily active users.
Concurrent with the donation, OpenSats has appointed new committee and board members, including prominent figures from the Bitcoin community like @Fiatjaf and NVK.
Past contributions by OpenSats have supported various Bitcoin-related projects, demonstrating its commitment to nurturing the ecosystem. The organization has already disbursed close to $10 million in grants, benefiting numerous grantees, including software developers, designers, researchers, and educators.
