Bitcoin Addresses with 10+ BTC Drop in 2024, Then Rebound

In 2024, the count of Bitcoin addresses holding at least 10 BTC has been on a decline. At the start of the year, there were roughly 155,500 such addresses.

By late March, this number had dropped to about 152,600, marking a significant decrease.

This trend contrasted with Bitcoin’s price movements during the same timeframe, suggesting that major holders were realizing profits.

However, the trend reversed in August, with the number of addresses holding over 10 BTC rising to approximately 153,500 as Bitcoin’s price hovered around $60,000.

Historically, since 2015, the number of addresses with at least 10 BTC has generally increased, paralleling Bitcoin’s price rise from below $500 to over $60,000 by 2021.

This long-term trend reflects growing accumulation among substantial holders, typically viewed as a sign of confidence in Bitcoin’s value. The drop in mid-2024, however, indicates potential short-term selling or portfolio adjustments following the recent halving.
