Hyperliquid Builder Volume Hits $984M as HYPE Holds $80

Hyperliquid’s latest surge is increasingly tied to the economics of its expanding trading infrastructure, with derivatives activity, third-party integrations and regulatory expectations all shaping demand around HYPE.

Summary:

  • Hyperliquid Builder Codes reached a record for daily perpetual trading volume.
  • Builder protocols recorded their second-highest daily revenue.
  • Hyperliquid has overtaken Pump.fun across several activity metrics.
  • HYPE is consolidating below its latest all-time high after a sharp rally.

Hyperliquid’s trading ecosystem reached another activity milestone on August 21, with Builder Codes processing a record $984 million in notional perpetual futures volume, according to data from Blockworks Research. The surge arrived during a broader expansion in Hyperliquid usage and shortly before HYPE reached a new all-time high, strengthening the link between the token’s recent rally and rising economic activity across the network.

Hyperliquid Builder Codes recorded about $984 million in daily perpetual volume and $782,000 in builder revenue as activity surged in August 2026.

Builder Codes Turn Third-Party Trading Into Hyperliquid Revenue

Builder Codes are significant because they allow third-party applications to route trading activity through Hyperliquid while charging users an additional fee. Rather than requiring every trader to interact directly with Hyperliquid’s own interface, wallets and applications can effectively become distribution channels for its liquidity.

On August 21, Builder Code protocols generated $782,000 in combined revenue, the second-highest daily total recorded. MetaMask accounted for approximately $143,000, while Phantom generated another $114,000, according to figures attributed to Blockworks Research.

The record $984 million in notional volume therefore carries more significance than a simple increase in derivatives turnover. It indicates that substantial trading activity is reaching Hyperliquid through products built outside its core interface.

For Hyperliquid, that broadens distribution without requiring the protocol itself to own every customer-facing product.

The distinction between notional volume and spot demand also matters. Perpetual futures volume measures the value of derivatives positions traded, often with leverage, rather than capital directly purchasing HYPE or another underlying asset. Record Builder Code volume therefore signals increased use of Hyperliquid’s trading infrastructure, but it should not be interpreted as $984 million of new capital entering the ecosystem.

Hyperliquid Pulls Ahead of Pump.fun on Platform Activity

The Builder Code record comes alongside stronger activity across Hyperliquid’s broader business.

Recent Token Terminal figures cited in the supplied data put Hyperliquid’s 24-hour fees at roughly $4.1 million, compared with $1.3 million for Pump.fun.

That combination is more informative than fees alone. Hyperliquid’s advantage reflects both monetization and user activity rather than an unusually high fee burden generated by a narrow group of accounts.

The two platforms also monetize very different behavior. Pump.fun primarily captures activity surrounding token launches and meme coin trading, while Hyperliquid is heavily exposed to perpetual futures. Volatile markets can therefore increase Hyperliquid’s fee generation as traders open, adjust and liquidate leveraged positions.

US Regulatory Expectations Added Another Catalyst

HYPE’s rally has not been driven solely by platform metrics.

President Donald Trump said on August 19 that Commodity Futures Trading Commission Chair Michael Selig was working to bring Hyperliquid into the United States in a “fully compliant and legal fashion.” HYPE jumped after the remarks, while Hyperliquid-related investment products and Hyperliquid Strategies shares also moved higher.

The comments should not be treated as regulatory approval. Hyperliquid currently operates outside the US regulatory framework and its interface restricts US users. Neither Trump nor the CFTC announced a formal approval, timetable or regulatory structure for bringing the venue onshore.

That distinction matters because operating a perpetual futures venue inside the US would require Hyperliquid to navigate rules that differ materially from its current decentralized trading model.

HYPE Consolidates After Its Breakout

HYPE’s price structure still reflects the scale of the recent move. The token reached approximately $84.00 during the rally before pulling back.

Momentum has cooled without fully reversing. The 14-period RSI has fallen to 68.76 (with its moving average at 71.59) after previously moving higher. That retreat takes the indicator out of its peak zone while keeping it at a relatively elevated level.

MACD presents a more cautious short-term signal. The MACD line stands around 3.87, below the 4.10 signal line, while the histogram has slipped to approximately -0.23. The crossover suggests that upside momentum has weakened as HYPE consolidates following the rapid advance.

Price action gives traders several clearer reference points. The $82 to $84 area remains immediate resistance around the recent highs.

A sustained break would put HYPE into price discovery again.

On the downside, the recent cluster around $76 to $78 represents the first support area. Below that, the breakout zone around $68 to $72 becomes more relevant. Losing those levels would suggest a deeper retracement rather than the relatively tight consolidation currently visible on the chart.

The next test for Hyperliquid’s activity will be whether Builder Code volume remains elevated after the recent burst of market volatility. Sustained third-party routing through wallets such as MetaMask and Phantom would provide a stronger indication that the record reflects a structural expansion of Hyperliquid’s distribution rather than a single unusually active trading session.
