VeChain Price Holds $0.007 as Interstellar Upgrade Nears

VeChain (VET) is holding near $0.007 after one of its strongest weekly moves of 2026, with attention shifting toward the upcoming Interstellar network upgrade.

Summary:

  • VET trades around $0.007 after gaining roughly 25% over the past week.
  • VIP-255 advances VeChainThor from Shanghai compatibility through execution-layer changes introduced across Ethereum’s Cancun, Prague and Osaka releases.
  • The final group of changes limits transaction gas and block size while making historical block data easier for Ethereum-compatible applications to access.
  • VET remains above its 20-period SMA on the 4-hour chart, while RSI near 62 shows positive momentum without an overbought reading.

VET has gained approximately 25% over the past seven days, lifting its market capitalization above $600 million, while VIP-255 is preparing VeChainThor for a major expansion of its Ethereum Virtual Machine compatibility.

VET holds its breakout after a volatile week

VET was trading around $0.00703 at the time of writing, with the token up approximately 24.7% over seven days. Its market capitalization stood near $606 million, while 24-hour trading volume was around $25.5 million.

The weekly move has been considerably stronger than the broader crypto market.

Historical data show the acceleration beginning around August 26, when VET jumped approximately 18% in a single session. Trading activity then increased sharply on August 27 as the token pushed above $0.007 and briefly reached approximately $0.0076.

The rally coincides with growing attention around Interstellar, the next stage of VeChain’s Renaissance roadmap. The network upgrade is designed to close much of the execution-layer compatibility gap between VeChainThor and newer Ethereum releases.

Rather than introducing one headline feature, VIP-255 packages 11 Ethereum Improvement Proposals covering EVM instructions, cryptographic functions and core protocol safeguards.

Three protocol changes complete the VIP-255 package

VeChain has spent recent days detailing different parts of Interstellar. The final group focuses less on new application features and more on how the network behaves as activity increases.

The three core protocol changes are:

  • EIP-2935, historical block hashes from state: Smart contracts gain an Ethereum-compatible interface for retrieving information from the most recent 8,191 blocks. VeChainThor already retains this history through its Extension built-in contract, so the change primarily improves compatibility rather than creating an entirely new historical-data capability.
  • EIP-7825, transaction gas limit cap: A single transaction will be limited to 16,777,216 gas. This prevents one transaction from consuming an excessive share of network resources, particularly relevant to VeChainThor because transactions can contain multiple clauses.
  • EIP-7934, execution block size limit: RLP-encoded blocks receive an 8 MiB maximum size. Gas limits constrain computational work, but they do not independently prevent blocks from becoming excessively large in raw data terms. The byte cap addresses that separate propagation risk.

All three specifications are included in the official VIP-255 proposal.

Why the limits matter for VeChainThor

The gas and block-size restrictions solve two different worst-case scenarios.

EIP-7825 limits how computationally demanding an individual transaction can become. That matters because VeChainThor supports multi-clause transactions, allowing several operations to be bundled together.

Without an individual transaction ceiling, unusually large transactions could consume a disproportionate amount of processing capacity.

EIP-7934 addresses physical data instead.

A transaction or block can contain data that is relatively inexpensive from a computational perspective but still takes time and bandwidth to propagate between nodes. Capping encoded blocks at 8 MiB places an explicit boundary on that resource requirement.

The result is greater predictability for node operators as network activity grows.

For enterprise applications, that predictability can be more important than raw maximum throughput. Applications built around supply chains, tokenized assets or business processes need transaction execution and infrastructure requirements that remain reasonably consistent under heavier network loads.

EIP-2935 reduces another Ethereum compatibility gap

The historical-block change tackles a different problem.

Ethereum’s EIP-2935 provides access to recent historical block hashes through a standardized contract interface. VeChainThor already stores the necessary history, so VIP-255 does not need to recreate Ethereum’s underlying ring-buffer architecture.

Instead, requests are resolved against VeChainThor’s existing Extension built-in contract.

The interface remains compatible with EIP-2935, including the 8,191-block lookup window, but returned values are VeChainThor block IDs rather than Ethereum-style Keccak block hashes.

That implementation is significant for developers porting Ethereum infrastructure.

Software designed around the EIP-2935 calling convention can interact with VeChainThor without requiring a separate historical-block interface, although developers still need to account for VeChain’s different block-ID format.

This fits the broader purpose of Interstellar: reducing the amount of VeChain-specific adaptation required when Ethereum tooling and smart contracts are brought onto the network.

Interstellar moves VeChain three Ethereum releases forward

The scope of VIP-255 extends well beyond these three protocol changes.

VeChainThor currently targets Ethereum’s Shanghai execution environment following the Galactica upgrade. Interstellar incorporates applicable execution-layer improvements from Cancun, Prague and Osaka in a single fork.

Other additions include transient storage through EIP-1153, the MCOPY memory instruction, updated SELFDESTRUCT behavior and the CLZ opcode.

The upgrade also adds BLS12-381 and secp256r1 cryptographic precompiles. The latter provides native support for the P-256 curve used by technologies including WebAuthn, FIDO2, Apple Secure Enclave and Android Keystore, creating infrastructure for applications using passkeys and hardware-backed authentication.

Ethereum transaction equivalence itself is not included in VIP-255 and has been deferred to a future network upgrade.
That distinction keeps the current upgrade focused on EVM capabilities rather than making VeChainThor structurally identical to Ethereum.

VET technical analysis: $0.00694 becomes the first test

The VET/USDT chart shows the token consolidating after its sharp advance rather than extending vertically higher.

VeChain (VET/USDT) 4-hour TradingView chart showing VET at $0.007032, trading above its 20-, 50-, 100- and 200-period SMAs, with RSI at 62.21.
VET/USDT 4-hour chart shows VeChain holding above the 20-period SMA at $0.006938, while RSI remains above 60. Source: TradingView, 4-hour VET/USDT chart.

At the time of writing, VET trades around $0.00703, slightly above its 20-period SMA at $0.006938.

The broader moving-average structure remains constructive:

  • 20-period SMA: $0.006938
  • 50-period SMA: $0.006226
  • 100-period SMA: $0.005458
  • 200-period SMA: $0.005056
  • 4-hour RSI: 62.21

The separation between price and the longer moving averages reflects how quickly VET has repriced during the past week.

RSI at 62.21 is particularly important. Momentum remains above the neutral 50 level but is below the conventional 70 overbought threshold. That differs materially from an RSI reading near 80, which would imply a much more stretched short-term market.

The immediate technical level is around $0.00694, where the rising 20-period SMA now sits.

Holding that area would preserve the short-term breakout structure and leave the recent $0.0074-$0.0076 highs as the next resistance zone.

A sustained break through those highs could reopen the path toward approximately $0.0080-$0.0085.

If VET loses the 20-period average, the next broader technical reference is the 50-period SMA around $0.00623. That would represent a much deeper retracement but would still leave the longer moving-average structure above levels seen before the August rally.

September puts the rally against a real protocol milestone

VET’s recent performance has arrived before Interstellar reaches mainnet, giving the market a defined event against which the rally can be tested.

The important point for investors is that VIP-255 is not simply increasing compatibility by adding Ethereum opcodes. Its core changes also place explicit limits around transaction computation and physical block size, while extending the interfaces available to Ethereum-oriented software.

Those safeguards become more relevant if the earlier parts of Interstellar succeed in attracting additional applications and transaction activity.

That gives VET’s current technical setup a fundamental milestone ahead of it. The token has already repriced sharply before activation, while the 4-hour chart is now consolidating near $0.007 rather than accelerating at the same pace.

Whether VET can convert that rally into a more durable trend will depend partly on whether September’s mainnet deployment translates developer compatibility improvements into measurable network activity after the upgrade goes live.
