Michael Saylor Signals More Bitcoin as Strategy Reworks Its Dividends

On Sunday, the Strategy executive chairman posted an updated chart of the company's Bitcoin purchases with the three-word caption “Even more orange.”
Summary:
- Saylor’s latest Bitcoin tracker shows Strategy’s 846,000 BTC worth $71.81 billion, while his caption hints at another purchase without confirming one.
- Strategy wants STRF, STRC, STRK and STRD to accrue dividends every calendar day, subject to shareholder approval.
- The dividend proposal leaves the underlying economics unchanged but could make Strategy’s preferred securities more flexible as income instruments.
The graphic shows 846,000 BTC, acquired across 115 purchase events at an average cost of $75,416 per coin. At the chart’s September 27 valuation, the position was worth $71.81 billion, roughly $7.8 billion above its aggregate purchase cost.

Saylor has repeatedly used updates to the StrategyTracker chart ahead of purchase announcements, so Sunday’s post has prompted expectations of another acquisition. It is not, however, confirmation that Strategy has bought additional BTC.
The timing gives the post a second dimension. Just two days earlier, Strategy filed a proposal with the SEC to fundamentally change how dividends are paid across four of the preferred securities it uses in its increasingly elaborate capital structure.
“Even More Orange” Puts the Bitcoin Machine Back in Focus
The orange dots in Saylor’s chart represent Strategy’s Bitcoin purchases since 2020. Their frequency has increased substantially as the company has expanded the financing instruments available to fund its treasury strategy.
The latest chart puts the portfolio at 846,000 BTC, with an average acquisition price of $75,416. The $71.81 billion reserve value shown in the graphic implies a price of roughly $84,900.
At the time of writing Bitcoin is trading at $84,504.36, up 0.45% over 24 hours and 4.71% over seven days. Total crypto market capitalization stood at $2.9 trillion, while the Fear & Greed Index was at 72, in “Greed” territory.
Saylor’s post does not disclose the size, price or financing of any new transaction. Historically, however, similar Sunday tracker posts have sometimes preceded Strategy’s formal purchase disclosures. That makes the next regulatory filing more important than the teaser itself.
The company is simultaneously changing the securities architecture surrounding that Bitcoin reserve.
Strategy Wants to Pay Preferred Dividends Every Business Day
On September 25, Strategy filed a preliminary proxy statement asking shareholders to approve daily dividends for STRF, STRC, STRK and STRD, the four securities it describes as the core of its “Digital Credit” platform.
The mechanics are unusual.
Every calendar day, including weekends and holidays, would become a dividend record date. If a dividend is declared, the corresponding payment would be made on the next business day. A Saturday dividend, for example, would ordinarily be paid onMonday alongside the amounts accrued for Sunday and Monday.

Strategy explicitly states in its SEC filing that the amendments do not increase or decrease the total regular dividends payable on the four securities. The proposal changes when investors accrue and receive the money, not the baseline economics of the instruments.
That distinction prevents “daily dividends” from being mistaken for additional yield.
STRC Would Move First
The proposal would standardize the payment cadence across preferred stocks that currently work differently.
Strategy’s latest declared quarterly payments are $2.50 per share for STRF, $2.00 for STRK and $2.50 for STRD. STRC currently carries a 12% annual dividend rate and pays $0.50 per share for each semi-monthly September period.
STRC would be the first to switch. If shareholders approve the proposal, its first daily record date would be November 1, with payment on November 2.
STRF, STRK and STRD would retain their quarterly schedules through December before moving to daily accrual beginning January 1, 2027. Their first payments under the new system are expected on January 4.
Shareholders are expected to vote at a virtual special meeting on October 28.
Why Change the Calendar if the Yield Does Not Change?
Strategy’s argument is about market structure rather than higher payouts.
In its materials, the company says shortening the gap between earning a dividend and receiving it could reduce reinvestment lag, improve liquidity and market efficiency, support price stability and potentially increase demand for the preferred securities. Strategy
There is also a practical trading effect.
Under a quarterly schedule, dividend entitlement is concentrated around a small number of record dates. Daily accrual ties income much more closely to the period during which an investor actually holds the security.
That could make the preferred shares more useful to investors who do not want to structure positions around quarterly distribution cycles.
But daily payment does not change the underlying credit exposure. Dividends remain payable only when declared by Strategy’s board or an authorized committee and when legally available funds exist.
Saylor Is Expanding Both Sides of the Strategy Model
The two developments arriving within days of each other show where Strategy’s model is heading.
Saylor continues to signal an appetite for adding Bitcoin to an already enormous reserve. At the same time, Strategy is refining the securities used to attract capital around that reserve.
The preferred shares matter because Strategy’s Bitcoin operation is no longer financed through common stock and convertible debt alone. STRF, STRC, STRK and STRD give investors different combinations of fixed or variable income, capital-structure priority and exposure to Strategy’s broader balance sheet.
Daily dividends would not create more income from Bitcoin, nor would they increase the stated economics of the preferred securities.
They would make the distribution mechanism itself part of Strategy’s product design.
That puts Sunday’s “Even more orange” post in a more interesting context. Strategy is not simply accumulating Bitcoin and waiting for its price to rise. It is simultaneously trying to make the capital structure surrounding those 846,000 coins more attractive to investors.
The next Bitcoin purchase will show whether the orange dots keep multiplying.
The October vote will show whether Strategy’s preferred shareholders want their income to start arriving every business day.
