Microsoft Warns of New Malware Targeting Crypto Wallets on Google Chrome

Microsoft has issued an alert regarding a newly uncovered piece of malware targeting cryptocurrency wallet extensions in Google Chrome.

Known as StilachiRAT, this remote access trojan (RAT) is capable of stealing sensitive data, including wallet details and login credentials.

First identified in November 2024, StilachiRAT utilizes sophisticated evasion methods to remain undetected while infecting systems.

It has been found to target popular crypto wallets, such as MetaMask, Coinbase Wallet, Phantom, OKX Wallet, and BNB Chain Wallet. Microsoft’s Incident Response team, who discovered the threat, has not yet pinpointed its origin.

The malware’s exact reach is still unknown, but Microsoft urges users to bolster their defenses. They recommend using trusted antivirus programs and avoiding suspicious browser extensions as a precaution.

The tech giant has emphasized its commitment to tracking and addressing emerging threats in the cyber landscape.
