Morgan Stanley Invests Almost $270 Million in Bitcoin ETFs
Morgan Stanley has significantly increased its investment in Bitcoin ETFs, as revealed by newly released documents.
Data from market analysis firm Fintel shows that Morgan Stanley disclosed to regulatory authorities that it acquired 4.27 million shares of the Grayscale Bitcoin Trust (GBTC) on May 15th, amounting to $269.8 million.
The firm’s latest filings with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) reveal a total of 7,816 holdings, with a portfolio value estimated at $1.25 trillion. Among the new additions to Morgan Stanley’s portfolio is the Grayscale Bitcoin Trust.
Other major financial players have also been active in the cryptocurrency market this month. On May 2nd, BNP Paribas, one of the largest banks in the world, bought 1,030 shares of the iShares Bitcoin Trust (IBIT) for $41,684.

On May 9th, trading and technology powerhouse Susquehanna acquired 17,271,326 shares of GBTC in multiple transactions, totaling $1.09 billion. Susquehanna also invested in several other BTC ETFs managed by BlackRock, VanEck, Fidelity, and ARK Invest.
Furthermore, a Form 13F filing on May 10th showed that JPMorgan is holding about $760,000 in spot BTC ETFs for its clients. Wells Fargo reported owning 2,245 shares of GBTC, valued at $121,000, on behalf of its clients.
