Philippine Banking App Adds Crypto – No Trading Screens, Just Tap and Buy

Millions of Filipinos woke up to a new way to buy crypto — right inside their everyday banking app.
GoTyme, the digital bank that lets people open an account and card in minutes, has switched on built-in crypto buying thanks to a tie-up with U.S. fintech Alpaca.
No Trading Screens — Just Tap, Buy, Done
The service supports 11 major coins including Bitcoin, Ether, Solana and Polkadot. One of the system’s key features is automatic conversion: users pay in pesos, but the platform handles the dollar side without showing complexity.
CEO Nate Clarke says that’s intentional — crypto often intimidates beginners, so GoTyme stripped out charts and jargon to make it more like ordinary e-commerce.
A Bank That Grew Faster Than Anyone Expected
Launched in 2022, GoTyme rocketed past 6.5 million users, becoming one of the country’s fastest-scaling finance apps. It was built through a partnership between Singapore’s Tyme Group and the Philippines’ Gokongwei empire.
GoTyme is looking beyond the Philippines. Vietnam and Indonesia are next on its roadmap, and Clarke has openly said that profitability isn’t the priority until 2027 — user growth and engagement matter first.

A Country Ready for It
Crypto is already mainstream in the Philippines — the country ranks ninth globally for adoption, and lawmakers are debating whether to hold 10,000 Bitcoin as a national strategic reserve.
That backdrop makes GoTyme’s move much more than a feature launch; it plugs a massive retail population into crypto through a channel they already trust.
