Player Outsmarts AI Agent to Win $47K in Groundbreaking Crypto Challenge
In a groundbreaking event, a player managed to outwit an AI agent named Freysa, winning a cryptocurrency prize worth $47,000.
This challenge, which saw 195 players and 482 attempts, was billed as the world’s first “adversarial agent game.” The task was simple yet complex: players needed to convince Freysa, an AI designed to control the funds, to release the cryptocurrency.
Freysa was programmed with a rigid rule: if it ever agreed to send the money, the system would fail, no matter the persuasion tactics. Despite this, players used a variety of strategies to try and convince the AI to make an exception. One player attempted to appeal to Freysa by suggesting that approving the transfer would help build trust and understanding between humans and AI, but this approach failed.

As the game progressed, Freysa became more difficult to negotiate with, introducing escalating fees for each message. The initial cost for sending a message was $10, but each subsequent message increased in price by 0.78%, eventually capping at $4,500. These fees were partially redirected to the prize pool, inflating the final reward to a hefty $47,316.05.
The eventual victor, known by their username p0pular.eth, cleverly manipulated Freysa’s system. They convinced the AI to use its “approveTransfer” function, originally intended to authorize outgoing funds, to instead accept incoming transactions. By proposing a small $100 donation to the treasury, they tricked Freysa into approving the transfer. The AI, after 482 attempts, finally succumbed to the persuasive player, declaring, “Humanity has prevailed” upon confirming the transfer.
