Ripple Targets $13 Trillion Treasury Pipeline for RLUSD Growth

Ripple is positioning corporate treasury as the next major distribution channel for RLUSD, using the infrastructure acquired with GTreasury to put its stablecoin inside financial workflows already handling trillions of dollars each year.

Summary:

  • Ripple Treasury clients process about $13 trillion annually.
  • RLUSD supply has reached roughly $2.4 billion.
  • Daily RLUSD volume has climbed toward $750 million.
  • Corporate usage is emerging as Ripple’s next adoption test.

Ripple Treasury gives RLUSD an enterprise route

In an interview with CoinDesk, Jack McDonald, Ripple’s Senior Vice President of Stablecoins, said that he sees corporate treasury as a major expansion opportunity for RLUSD.

The scale comes from GTreasury, the treasury-management software company Ripple acquired for $1 billion in 2025 and subsequently integrated into Ripple Treasury. Its roughly 1,200 corporate treasury and CFO clients collectively handle about $13 trillion in annual domestic and cross-border transactions.

That $13 trillion represents existing transaction activity across the platform rather than money expected to migrate into RLUSD.

The acquisition gives Ripple something that stablecoin issuers usually have to build separately: direct integration with the systems companies use for cash positioning, payments, forecasting, reconciliation and liquidity management. Ripple Treasury has since added digital-asset functionality alongside those conventional tools.

For RLUSD, the advantage is distribution. A corporate finance team could potentially manage conventional cash and stablecoins from the same treasury environment rather than introducing a separate crypto workflow.

RLUSD reaches $2.4 billion as activity accelerates

RLUSD has grown quickly enough for that enterprise strategy to become more relevant.

Ripple reported $2.396 billion in circulating RLUSD as of September 3, against approximately $2.518 billion of reserve assets.

McDonald said supply had increased by more than 50% over the preceding month. Roughly $1 billion is deployed on the XRP Ledger and $1.4 billion on Ethereum, giving Ripple liquidity across both its native network and crypto’s largest smart-contract ecosystem.

Daily active volume has meanwhile climbed toward $750 million, compared with roughly $200 million earlier in the year.

That turnover is particularly relevant to the treasury strategy. Corporate settlement does not require businesses to permanently hold large stablecoin balances. RLUSD can function as temporary settlement liquidity between cash, payments and other financial assets.

Ripple is connecting RLUSD to more than payments

The institutional strategy already extends into tokenized investments and collateral.

Ripple’s partnership with DBS and Franklin Templeton connects RLUSD with Franklin Templeton’s tokenized money-market fund.

Eligible investors can move between dollar liquidity and a tokenized yield-bearing asset without returning to conventional settlement infrastructure for every transaction.

The arrangement also creates a potential collateral loop. DBS has explored accepting the tokenized fund as collateral for credit and repo transactions, giving institutional users a route from RLUSD into an investment asset and then into secured financing.

RLUSD is also being incorporated into Ripple Prime, the company’s institutional prime brokerage operation, where stablecoins can serve as collateral within trading and financing workflows.

Together, those products give Ripple several distinct routes for RLUSD usage:

  • Corporate treasury: payments, cash movement and liquidity management.
  • Tokenized markets: settlement against assets such as money-market funds.
  • Credit: lending and collateralized transactions.
  • Prime brokerage: collateral for institutional trading activity.

The significance is the connection between them. A corporate or institutional user does not necessarily need a different dollar instrument when moving from payment to investment or collateral if RLUSD is accepted across each layer.

Europe could extend the institutional model

Europe is another potential distribution market.

Ripple secured full authorization under the EU’s Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation in Luxembourg in July, allowing it to provide regulated crypto-asset services across the European Economic Area through passporting arrangements.

The company is also working toward a MiCA-compatible structure for RLUSD as stablecoin rules become more restrictive about how dollar-denominated tokens can be offered within the bloc.

For corporate treasurers, regulatory treatment is especially important. A stablecoin can offer faster settlement, but companies still need clarity around reserves, redemption, accounting, counterparty exposure and the legal entity responsible for issuance.

The next RLUSD milestone is usage inside Ripple Treasury

Ripple has already demonstrated that it can expand RLUSD’s circulating supply. Integrating the stablecoin into GTreasury’s former customer network presents a different test: whether established corporate finance departments will use it for real treasury operations.

The useful numbers from here are therefore operational: how many Ripple Treasury customers activate digital assets, how much corporate payment volume settles through RLUSD, and how much of its activity comes from recurring payments, collateral and tokenized-asset transactions.

Those figures would show whether Ripple’s $1 billion acquisition has created an effective bridge between traditional corporate cash management and its growing stablecoin business.
