Scammers Use Deepfakes of Apple CEO to Promote Cryptocurrency Fraud
Cryptocurrency scams are becoming increasingly sophisticated, with recent incidents involving deepfake technology reaching new heights.
During Apple’s iPhone 16 launch event, scammers used deepfake videos of Apple CEO Tim Cook on YouTube to deceive viewers.

YouTube has since confirmed the scam, promptly removing the videos and shutting down the associated accounts. The platform has advised users to report any similar content using its official tools.
This incident underscores the risks posed by deepfake technology and the need for enhanced digital security measures. It also reflects a troubling trend of scammers becoming more audacious, as evidenced by a similar incident in June involving deepfake videos of Elon Musk on Australia’s Seven Network.
