SEC Crypto Unit Head David Hirsch Departs After Nine Years

The head of the Crypto Asset and Cyber Unit in the Division of Enforcement at the United States Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), David Hirsch, has left his position after being with the agency for nearly nine years.
He announced on LinkedIn that he would be leaving. Hirsch took time out to reflect on his tenure while underscoring his involvement in intricate investigations as well as other matters that were beyond his wildest imaginations when he was starting out as a staff attorney at Fort Worth Regional Office.
He said in few words how happy he was for leading his team that achieved history. Although he did not say what he would do next, Hirsch mentioned that more information would be provided after he takes a break.

Before he joined SEC he had served on the legal advisory board at NYU Center for Cybersecurity.
This is crucial because SEC’s role in cryptocurrency regulation is becoming more important due to increased political scrutiny particularly towards the national election.
There have been recent pressures from lawmakers demanding SEC to approve an Ethereum exchange-traded fund. Gary Gensler’s take on cryptocurrencies has been a bone of contention among enthusiasts who often see it as aggressive.
