SEC Delays Decision on BlackRock and Bitwise Ethereum ETFs

In a recent turn of events, the SEC has opted to delay its decision on BlackRock’s proposal for a spot Ethereum ETF.

Along with this, the regulatory body has also postponed its ruling on Bitwise’s Ethereum Spot ETF application. Both products are under review as the SEC evaluates the broader implications of approving such financial instruments.

This move comes after the SEC recently approved Bitcoin Spot ETFs, though it took seven months from their initial launch to gain approval.

If a similar timeline is followed, Ethereum Spot ETFs could potentially receive approval by February 2025, though no guarantees can be made at this stage.

The SEC is expected to revisit these Ethereum applications, with its next decision set for November 10, when further clarity may emerge on the approval process.
