Third Largest Telecommunications Company in the World to Start Bitcoin Mining
Dirk Röder, the head of T-Systems MMS’s Web3 infrastructure and solutions at Deutsche Telekom subsidiary, has announced that Deutsche Telekom, Europe’s largest telecoms provider is set to join Bitcoin mining business at the BTC Prague conference.
Roder wore a pink bitcoin logo t-shirt reminiscent of their Deutsche Telekom logo in order to show off the company’s achievements.
“Since 2023 we are running a Bitcoin node and Bitcoin Lightning nodes,” he explained. He later revealed: ‘I would like to say with chest swelling from pride that we will soon be engaging in digital monetary photosynthesis.’

Bitcoin influencer Joe Nakamoto wanted clarity on this mysterious statement and said, “So is T-Mobile mining Bitcoin?” He confirmed it by saying “We will.”

Deutsche Telekom’ involvement in crypto goes beyond bitcoin; it had been participating in Ethereum network as a validator node by supporting project StakeWise – liquid staking protocol whose governance DAO it joined in 2022.
Similarly, they are also validating another chain known as Polygon and supporting Q as well as Chainlink blockchain networks which are among its larger plans. Besides operating Polkadot and Celo Network nodes, they directly invest into the tokens of these protocols.
