Two Dormant Bitcoin Wallets Reactivated, Moving $4.7 Million
Two Bitcoin wallets that had been dormant for over 13 years were recently reactivated, moving a total of 75 BTC, worth around $4.7 million.
On August 25, two wallets from February 2011 were activated for the first time in over a decade. The first wallet, “1EySSG,” transferred 10.41 BTC in two transactions.
The second wallet, “1L8SX,” moved 64.59 BTC, dividing it into two transactions. The funds from both wallets were consolidated into a new Bech32 wallet.
Transactions involving Bitcoin from 2011 are uncommon, with recent activity mostly coming from addresses created between 2013 and 2017.

While older Bitcoin transactions are rare, the recent movements highlight how dormant Bitcoin can influence market dynamics.
This sudden activity has drawn attention due to the significant increase in Bitcoin held in inactive wallets, from 7.4 million coins in January 2024 to 18.3 million. Such reactivations could impact market volatility and supply dynamics.
