Uniswap Volume Surges Past $70B as UNI Tests $6.55 Resistance

Uniswap has widened its lead in decentralized trading, but the more consequential shift is happening beneath the headline volume: Robinhood Chain has emerged as a major source of activity while UNI remains unable to decisively clear short-term resistance.
Summary:
- Uniswap topped $70 billion in monthly DEX volume.
- Robinhood Chain has become a major source of activity.
- Higher fees are feeding UNI’s evolving token economics.
- UNI faces resistance around $6.55.
Uniswap’s lead is increasingly a multi-chain story
Uniswap said it processed more than $70 billion over the latest monthly period, exceeding the combined volume of the next three decentralized exchanges.

Recent DeFiLlama data also show how much the composition of that activity has changed. Robinhood Chain has become one of Uniswap’s largest markets alongside Ethereum, rather than volume remaining concentrated on its original network.
That is useful for judging the quality of Uniswap’s growth.
Ethereum still holds roughly $2.3 billion of Uniswap’s $3.6 billion in total value locked, while Robinhood Chain accounts for only about $250 million. Yet Robinhood Chain recently generated more 30-day DEX volume than Ethereum and contributed the largest portion of Uniswap’s fees.
In other words, liquidity deposited on the two networks is producing very different levels of trading activity.
Robinhood Chain itself is only a few months old. DeFiLlama noted this month that it was already generating more DEX volume than Base despite carrying about one-sixth of Base’s TVL.
For Uniswap, that creates an early example of why multi-chain deployment can matter economically: the protocol can capture a new concentration of traders without needing Ethereum liquidity to produce all of its growth.
The fee data reveal where the activity is concentrated
Volume alone does not tell UNI holders how much economic value reaches the protocol.
Fees provide another layer.
DeFiLlama recently recorded roughly $165 million in Uniswap fees over 30 days. Robinhood Chain contributed around $115 million, far ahead of Ethereum at approximately $18 million and Base at $18 million.
The concentration is unusually high. Robinhood Chain represents less than 10% of Uniswap’s TVL but has recently generated roughly 70% of its 30-day fees.
That ratio is more informative than another comparison of DEX rankings. It indicates that a relatively small pool of capital is currently supporting an outsized amount of fee-generating activity.
It also introduces a risk to the current run rate. If trading on Robinhood Chain cools, Uniswap could retain its broad multi-chain footprint while still seeing a meaningful decline in fees.
UNI now has more exposure to protocol activity
The relationship between Uniswap usage and UNI has also changed.
Historically, high trading volume primarily benefited liquidity providers because they collected swap fees. UNI functioned largely as a governance asset, weakening the connection between growing DEX activity and token value.

Recent protocol changes have strengthened that connection by introducing mechanisms that direct part of Uniswap’s economics toward UNI burns.
That gives investors three separate metrics to distinguish:
- Volume shows how much trading Uniswap facilitates.
- Fees show the economic activity those trades generate.
- Protocol earnings and burns show how much can ultimately affect UNI’s supply economics.
The distinction becomes particularly useful during periods such as the current one. Record or near-record activity can be bullish for the underlying business without producing an immediate proportional move in the token.
UNI stalls after rebounding from $5.85
At the time of writing UNI was trading near $6.25 on September 13, recovering from the week’s low around $5.85 but giving back part of its latest rebound.

The token remains above its 20-period SMA at $6.17 and the 100-period SMA at $5.98. The larger obstacle is the 50-period average near $6.56, which sits close to the recent rejection area.
Momentum offers little confirmation in either direction. The 14-period RSI stands at 47.5, close to neutral after recovering from near-oversold territory earlier in the week.
That leaves a relatively compact technical map.
A close above $6.55-$6.56 would clear the moving average that capped the latest rebound. Below the market, $6.17 provides the first reference point, followed by the stronger $5.98-$6.00 area.
Robinhood Chain is now the variable worth watching
Uniswap no longer needs another monthly volume record to demonstrate its scale. The more useful test is whether the activity developing on Robinhood Chain proves durable.
The current data show an unusual combination: a comparatively small share of Uniswap liquidity is generating a disproportionate amount of trading and fees.
If that relationship persists, Uniswap will have found a high-velocity source of activity outside Ethereum. If it normalizes, fee generation could fall much faster than the protocol’s TVL suggests.
For UNI, the immediate market test is simpler. $6.55 remains the level separating the current recovery from a stronger technical breakout, while Robinhood Chain’s share of fees will show whether the fundamental acceleration underneath it is holding.
