Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin's net worth is estimated to be at least $552.86 million as of January 2024, according to Arkham, a cryptocurrency tracking platform.
The bulk of Buterin’s crypto wealth, estimated at $552.86 million, is in Ethereum (ETH) tokens, making his net worth highly sensitive to ETH’s price fluctuations. He is known to hold around 246,730 ETH tokens.
His other crypto investments include stakes in companies like StarkNet and a variety of other tokens such as KNC and WETH. Notable non-ETH holdings include 869,500 KNCL tokens worth approximately $609,780 from Kyber Network, 196.42 Wrapped Ether (WETH) tokens valued at roughly $436,920, and around 101 million THE tokens worth $127,950.
Interestingly, Buterin is the largest individual ETH holder with accessible tokens. Another significant holder, Rain Lohmus, has about 250,000 ETH but cannot access them due to lost private keys.

Buterin’s known ETH holdings appear to decrease annually as he frequently sells portions of his holdings. In May 2023, he sold 200 ETH and the Ethereum Foundation sold 15,000 ETH. Buterin asserts that he has not sold ETH for personal profit since 2018, clarifying that his transfers to exchanges were for donations, not personal sales.
Buterin’s net worth stands out compared to other Ethereum co-founders and early ETH investors, reflecting his significant influence and success in the crypto industry.
