Will Coinbase Relist Ripple (XRP)?
The potential relisting of XRP on Coinbase would be a major event for the XRP community if Ripple prevails in its legal dispute against the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).
In a recent interview with Thinking Crypto host Tony Edward, Coinbase’s Chief Legal Officer (CLO) Paul Grewal discussed the issue and explained the process of relisting XRP.
Coinbase suspended XRP trading in January 2021 following the SEC’s lawsuit and has kept the token suspended despite calls from the XRP community.
Grewal expressed optimism about Ripple’s chances but emphasized that relisting would not hinge solely on a court victory.
According to Grewal, Coinbase regularly evaluates assets for listing, delisting, or pausing, and he understands the XRP community’s frustration.
Grewal praised Ripple’s legal team for their work and believes the court’s decision will favor Ripple.
However, he emphasized that the decision of the Southern District Court of New York would be the first step in a longer process, and regardless of who wins in court, both sides are likely to appeal.

The timeline for relisting will depend on the grounds of the ruling, the judge’s legal reasoning, and Coinbase’s assessment of the appeals court’s decision.
As a publicly listed company, Coinbase has a responsibility to tread carefully in this area with respect to any token that is the subject of federal court litigation.
Coinbase will initiate the review process immediately after the ruling appears. At the time of writing, XRP’s price is $0.37 and is still on a downtrend in the 1-day chart.
