Worldcoin (WLD) Introduces Ethereum Layer-2 Blockchain

Worldcoin (WLD), led by Sam Altman, unveils its own Ethereum (ETH) layer-2 blockchain, known as World Chain.

The blockchain prioritizes block space for the project’s 5 million verified World ID holders over bots and offers gas allowance for “casual transactions.”

World Chain is tailored for scalability within Optimism’s Superchain framework and aims to enhance capacity for new users to join.

Leveraging its ID system, World Chain aims to combat the issue of AI-powered bots spamming blockchains, causing network congestion and high fees.

The project introduces World ID, enabling users to anonymously verify their humanity on apps and verify their addresses on World Chain. Transactions submitted by verified humans will be prioritized for faster confirmation times.

While ETH serves as the native token, users can also pay fees using WLD, Worldcoin’s utility token.
