New Contactless Payments Ring Launches Across Europe
MuchBetter has introduced a new contactless payments ring in Italy, which users can obtain for free by loading it with €100 through the associated app.
Customers need to pay a €5.99 delivery fee to receive the ceramic, battery-free, and water-resistant ring via the MuchBetter website.
Once received, users can pair the ring with the MuchBetter wallet app by holding it near an NFC-enabled smartphone. After loading funds, the ring becomes ready for making contactless payments.
After its debut in Italy, the ring will also be rolled out in Germany, Austria, the UK, Ireland, and Poland. Despite being available for about a decade, wearables like payment rings have yet to gain widespread adoption, despite the rising popularity of contactless payments.

Last year, Italian bank Intesa Sanpaolo collaborated with Mastercard to introduce a similar ring developed by Swedish fintech company Tapster.
Tom Lenihan, MuchBetter’s director of marketing, expressed optimism about the future of payment rings and similar wearables, foreseeing them eventually replacing phone and contactless card payments.
MuchBetter aims to lead in offering consumers greater freedom and flexibility in how they choose to pay.
