Robert F. Kennedy Jr. Discovers Bitcoin’s Path Amidst Protests
Robert F. Kennedy Jr emphasized the significance of freedom in transactions, paralleling it with freedom of expression.
His realization occurred as a response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
In his inaugural public appearance as a Democratic presidential candidate at Bitcoin 2023 in Miami, Kennedy addressed a packed audience at the prominent “Nakamoto Stage.” The anticipation surrounding his keynote speech was immense.
Kennedy commenced his address by recounting his interest in Bitcoin, sparked by Canada’s decision to freeze the bank accounts of truck drivers protesting COVID-19 restrictions. This incident shed light on the value of Bitcoin as a medium of exchange.
The presidential hopeful, known for criticizing vaccine mandates, affirmed his commitment to safeguarding civil liberties by supporting Bitcoin.
He asserted that Bitcoin serves as a defense against government and corporate intrusion, referencing the mistreatment of the truckers. Kennedy vowed to protect the right to possess and utilize Bitcoin if elected president.

Drawing a contrast to the current U.S. president, Kennedy criticized Biden’s proposed 30% excise tax on cryptocurrency miners. He argued that such a tax necessitates invasive surveillance and establishes an unfavorable precedent.
Kennedy was not the only critic of Biden’s proposed miner tax at the Bitcoin conference. Senator Cynthia Lummis (R-WY), a staunch advocate of Bitcoin, echoed the sentiment, emphasizing the need to safeguard Bitcoin’s presence and innovation in the United States.
Regrettably, Rep. Patrick McHenry (R-NC), who chairs the House Financial Services Committee, could not attend the conference due to ongoing debt ceiling negotiations.
