The United States Exposes Alleged Leader of LockBit Ransomware Group

The US Treasury Department has identified Dmitry Yuryevich Khoroshev as the supposed head of the Russia-based LockBit crypto-ransomware gang.

A $10 million bounty is offered for information leading to key members’ identification.

Khoroshev, reportedly operating under the alias “LockBitSupp,” is accused of spearheading LockBit’s management and upgrades. The Treasury Department disclosed his Bitcoin address: bc1qvhnfknw852ephxyc5hm4q520zmvf9maphetc9z.

While LockBit dismissed FBI claims, a malware-focused account revealed Khoroshev’s personal details and penchant for Cheesecake Factory.

The US sanctions include a $10 million reward for revealing LockBit leaders and $5 million for aiding their arrest.

LockBit employs a ransomware-as-a-service model, amassing over $500 million from 2,500 global victims, targeting various sectors.

Last February, authorities seized 200 crypto addresses and LockBit’s site, hinting at Khoroshev’s revelation, which was met with minimal information.
