US-Regierung verkauft Bitcoin im Wert von 215 Millionen Dollar von Silk Road Hacker
In einer Gerichtsakte vom 31. März gab die Regierung der Vereinigten Staaten bekannt, dass sie am 14. März 9 861,17 Bitcoin für 215,7 Millionen Dollar verkauft hat.
Die verkaufteBTC waren Bestandteil der 51,351 Token, die James Zhong rechtswidrig vom Darknet-Marktplatz Silk Road erworben hatte und die von den Behörden beschlagnahmt worden waren.
Die Regierung zahlte 215,738 US-Dollar als Transaktionsgebühren, und es wurde ein Nettoerlös von 215,52 Millionen US-Dollar erzielt. Nach der Verurteilung Zhongs werden die restlichen 40 000 Bitcoin im Laufe dieses Jahres in vier Tranchen liquidiert.
Allerdings werden keine weiteren Verkäufe bis dahin getätigt.
Am 8. März verschob die Regierung 49 000 Bitcoin, wobei sie 9 861 BTC an Coinbase und den Rest an zwei neue Adressen schickte, was die Befürchtung eines erhöhten Verkaufsdrucks auf BTC aufkommen ließ.
Nichtsdestotrotz stieg der BTC-Kurs am 29. März auf über 29.000 $ und legte damit in den letzten 30 Tagen um mehr als 22 % zu.
